IPAC DIRECTORATE OF WOMEN AFFAIRS | SOUTH SOUTH ZONE

Empowering Women. Strengthening Democracy.

Advancing women's political leadership, representation, and meaningful participation in governance across Nigeria's South South region. Building an inclusive political environment where women across all political parties have the opportunity to lead, contribute, and shape the future of democratic governance.

Institutional Identity

One Voice. Equal Opportunities. Stronger Representation.

The IPAC Directorate of Women Affairs serves as a unifying platform for women across political parties, promoting equal opportunities, leadership development, political inclusion, and meaningful participation in governance.

Our mandate extends far beyond traditional election cycles. We believe firmly that women's political participation must not end with campaign mobilization or electoral victories. We actively advocate for the recognition of women's competence, experience, and leadership contributions before, during, and after elections.

By uniting female political actors across party lines in Nigeria's South South Zone, the Directorate builds collaborative bridges that transform political visibility into substantive decision-making power.

Advocacy Spotlight

Advancing Women's Representation in Governance

The IPAC Directorate of Women Affairs has documented its resolute support for the Special Seats for Women Bill, a transformative legislative proposal designed to guarantee dedicated seats for women across Nigeria's National Assembly and State Houses of Assembly.

Achieving true democracy requires tearing down institutional hurdles, reforming nomination quotas, and ensuring female leaders occupy decision-making seats where legislation and policy budgets are crafted. We call upon all party chairpersons, legislators, and civic stakeholders to lend their voice and influence to this vital cause.

Legislative Action

Why Special Seats Matter

  • ✓ Corrects Historical Imbalance: Bridges the gender gap in parliamentary representation across all tiers of government.
  • ✓ Elevates Women's Voices: Ensures crucial perspectives on social welfare, family policy, economy, and healthcare are represented in legislation.
  • ✓ Fosters Sustainable Development: Strengthens democratic legitimacy by reflecting Nigeria's diverse demographic reality.
